Karate Budokan International (KBI‑World) is a global martial arts organisation dedicated to preserving and advancing the teachings of Grandmaster Chew Choo Soot, founder of Budokan Karate. From its origins in Malaysia to its modern international presence, KBI‑World maintains a clear lineage, a unified syllabus, and a commitment to high standards, discipline, and character development.
KBI‑World is headquartered in Cardiff, Wales, under the leadership of Hanshi Mike Tan, 8th Dan, appointed as Head of KBI‑World and custodian of the Budokan legacy. Today, KBI‑World oversees dojos across Europe, Asia, and emerging regions including Middle East, Mexico, and USA ensuring consistency, quality, and safeguarding across all branches.
Our mission is simple: Unity, quality, transparency, and the continued evolution of Budokan Karate worldwide.
Budokan Karate is grounded in scientific principles — biomechanics, body mechanics, and exercise physiology — ensuring safe, effective, and purposeful training.
